Seagrove, North Carolina ~ October 31, 2010

"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.  For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit."
Jeremiah 17:7-8

On October 30th, we drove out to mid-North Carolina.  Originally we were scheduled for the Sunday evening service, so we were going to travel out there that Sunday afternoon, but Friday the pastor asked that we make it an "all day".  We immediately went into high gear trying to pack in time to leave the next morning.  Even though we've done it enough to be pros by now, packing still isn't our forte. : )

The excitement started immediately upon our arrival.  Firetrucks began pulling in with their sirens on, and as soon as they stopped, men jumped out all suited up ready to challenge the flames.  But to their disappointment, there were no flames to fight.  There was some concrete being cut, and the wind was blowing just so causing it to look like there was smoke boiling from under the garage doors.  It was so thick we couldn't see the man doing the cutting unless we looked really hard. : )

We spent the rest of the evening at the church.  We set up and practiced....

....and practiced....

 .....and practiced. : )
A nice warm bed sounded like a good idea by the end of our practice session!  The pastor gave directions to the place where we were to stay, so we all piled in the van and headed off.  As is very apt to happen, the person taking directions didn't consult their paper when giving them to the driver, soooooo.....have you ever seen a laddie go this way and that way?  Well, we finally found a little dirt road that cut across to the road we were supposed to end up on.  Thank the Lord for GPS! : )

Sunday morning, the Lord allowed us the opportunity to play and sing a few songs as well as for Daddy to present our ministry and preach.  After we finished our songs, Christina was making her way down from the piano when the step (that ~ unbeknownst to her ~ was unattached) rolled out from under her.  Crash landing! : )  She was a little bummed up, and her pride suffered quite a blow.  Poor thing! : )

At the end of the service, we had the privilege of witnessing the baptism of a lady who had accepted Christ as her Savior many, many years ago but who had just recently made the decision to follow the Lord's example of baptism by immersion in obedience to Christ's command.  What a sweet time!

When we went back to take our Sunday afternoon naps at the house where we were staying, someone found a little friend. : )

The pastor had asked us to do their song service that evening.  We sang and played our instruments and Daddy read Scripture intermittently throughout.

This is what you get after about an hour and a half's worth of music. : )
After the service, we glanced at the two pews where our family had been sitting, and it was interspersed with mostly empty water bottles. : )

The Lord had blessed us with a good day!

  1. Um, is that last picture a mushroom - cause it looks huge?????

Poor Christina - I have this awful fear that I'm going to fall off of the platform and I haven't had it happen, yet!! Sorry - hope you weren't too sore!

  2. Yep, it's a mushroom! My favorite type of photography...but I had to spend some time on my knees for this one. : )

Sorry, but I had to laugh at the thought of you falling off a platform. Keisha said the next time you were in, she could "accidentally" give you a little push as you were coming down from choir. Experience always helps to get over fear. : )

  3. I suppose a photo of a mushroom is better than eating one of those NASTY things!!

Um, no thanks Keisha - I'm good. I would rather "fall" on my own - well, actually I would rather NOT fall!!!
