I'll Love You...

forever!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."
Genesis 2:21-24
Forty-one short years ago, a 16-year-old boy -- ahem! -- man... : ) was introduced to his friend's girlfriend.  Just a casual meeting, but to this young man, it was love at first sight. The friend forever regretted it... : )
They dated, were engaged, but there was a little problem about the "getting married" part.  You see, the young man was now only 17, and his guardian refused to sign for him.  They tried everything...even taking a bus to SC with a fake ID...all to no avail.  Finally, the week before this young man's birthday, his guardian finally signed for him and gave these wise words of counsel ~ Now, if you'll work as hard to stay married as you did to get married, it will last.
On January 23, 1971 (the day before that young man's 18th birthday), they did just that ~ they got married...
...and their marriage has done just that for 40 short years ~ lasted. : )
We love you, Daddy and Momma, and are SO thankful to the Lord for your faithfulness to Him and to each other!  Thank you for your wonderful example to us!  May you have many, many more years together!
Happy Anniversary!!!
Christina, Keisha, Ray, Valerie, Sara, and Allison
  1. That is practically the story of my parents' wedding as well. Only for them, the date was already set & everything was planned, presents were bought and then it was cancelled due to lack of consent a few days before. Everyone returned their gifts and forgot about the wedding. A week or two later consent was granted and a quick trip was made down to the judge that day. That is what you call starting out rough. It was 43 years this past October for them. Congratulations to you on your 40. Praise the Lord, He makes up the difference, AMEN!
